Of course, no-one likes going into a shop and getting ignored, but, it’s even worse when you get badgered by aggressive assistants, desperate to flog the latest ‘special offer’.
Most of us just want a wee bit of help when we ask for it. From a sales person that’s knowledgeable, professional and friendly. And we want to be able to get that kind of service in our local area, without travelling for hours on end.
That’s why Kristoffersen Carpets was born. In 1993, starting with one shop in the high street in Portobello, we’ve been fitting fantastic floors around Edinburgh ever since. And we’ve now got stores in Morningside, Corstorphine, Newtongrange, Galashiels and Fenton Barnes too.

We just had Amtico installed downstairs in our house. Had a great experience. Despite the upheaval, the joiners made every effort to ensure we weren’t disrupted too much. They were very helpful and tidy. They even fixed our blocked pipe! The flooring itself is stunning and very well fitted. We are absolutely delighted with the result thank you. After a bit of searching around we spoke to Daniel at Kristoffersen in Newtongrange. He’s incredibly knowledgable and based on his advice we decided to have Amtico flooring fitted in our living room and hallway. Nice and early on day 1 of the fit, Guy arrived and set to work lifting carpets and screeding the floors. The job took only 2 and a half days and we’re delighted with the result. Guy begins working as soon as he arrives and never stops. He’s a machine! From start to finish this was a stress free experience. Happy to recommend Kristoffersen Carpets!

We used the Galashiels branch. Went to shop, great selection, picked what we wanted all made easier with advice and help of shop assistant, a lovely young man . On the day, I was phoned , given exact time the fitters would be at our home. We left the room to the courteous polite men while they did their job. It was so quick. They were absolutely skilled at the job , when we came in and saw what a perfect job they did. They even had their own vacuum and vacuumed afterwards. An absolute pleasure to do business with this firm. We highly recommend.

We always try to get out to you as quickly as possible. We have three estimators and our shop managers also pop out to do measures. We aim to measure within a week of your first visit, but if you’re local we often measure within a couple of days.
It depends on what you choose and how complex the job is. Our suppliers take varying times to deliver. But if you need a quick turnaround, we can show you products with a fast delivery or something from our stock. We’ve occasionally fitted on the same day although most carpets are fitted within a week to ten days.
Yes, each floorcovering requires a different standard of floor preparation. A good carpet and underlay can make up for some unevenness, but vinyl needs the subfloor to be smoother because it’s less forgiving. We can fit plywood to floorboards and screed concrete floors to bring them up to standard and we can advise what’s needed when we come to measure.
Yes, you can borrow any samples you see in our showroom and we can collect them when we come to measure.
Yes. We have fitters working every Saturday. We can often arrange a Sunday too by request.
Yes. We do our best to fit in with your plans. Speak to your nearest branch to arrange a time that suits you best.
Usually we can get hold of most flooring, so send us the name, colour and where you’ve seen it and we’ll be able to find it.
Yes, send your plan or bring it into your nearest branch, we will be able to work out a price based on the floorplan.

Yes, for a small charge we can move a reasonable amount of heavy furniture. You’ll have to remove smaller pieces and ornaments or books from the room yourself. Speak to your estimator who will let you know what we can do.
Yes. No problem. For a small charge our fitters can uplift and remove the old floorcovering on the day of fitting.
Yes. We can move all types of appliances including American fridge freezers. We also can disconnect and then replumb washing machines after fitting. We can move gas appliances but we can`t disconnect, so the appliance must have a long enough hose to allow it to stay connected during fitting.
Yes. That’s no problem. Speak to your nearest branch to discuss.
Yes. We’ve been successfully fitting sisal on customers’ stairs for over twenty years. Give one of our branch managers a call.
Yes, but the reason we offer supply and fit for our materials is so we can make sure of the quality of the job. Our fitters work to the highest standards and have vast experience with all floors. Ask for a quote. Our fitting prices are very competitive.
We’re happy to supply and fit, but if you’ve purchased flooring elsewhere, we can’t install it. If you’ve seen flooring elsewhere, send us an email with a link and we can source it more often than not.
